Sustainable Learning instead of outdated PDFs: BOPP’s way of working
Valuable knowledge exists in many organizations but is often hard to access, scattered, or tied to individuals. Together with ahead and Kicken Dynamics, BOPP chose a new approach: learning not alongside work, but embedded directly into the flow of work.
What happens when 40 years of knowledge leave the company?
At BOPP, knowledge lives in people. In employees who have built up decades of experience and know exactly what matters in day-to-day operations.
But with the ongoing demographic shift, many of these knowledge holders are approaching retirement. And with them, critical knowledge risks disappearing, knowledge that was never truly structured or passed on.
At the same time, BOPP operates in a highly specialized field. For many roles, there are hardly any pre-trained professionals available on the market. New employees often join as career changers and need to build up their knowledge from within the company.
The result: knowledge exists, but isn’t accessible. Experience is there, but not scalable and onboarding becomes a challenge, as learning largely consists of working through hours of static PDFs.
A digital home for a connected way of working
The key question was not: What tool do we need?
But rather: How do we preserve knowledge before it’s lost and make it accessible and usable for everyone?
BOPP was already using ahead as their intranet solution and decided to take the next step together with ahead and Kicken Dynamics: becoming a pilot customer for ahead Learning to develop a new approach to learning within the organization.
Together, they created an approach where learning is not treated as a separate system, but as an integral part of daily work.

Learning where work happens
Instead of introducing a separate e-learning system, BOPP integrates learning directly into their existing intranet environment. Content is available where employees already work and communicate.
For new employees, this means less searching, fewer context switches, and significant time savings when accessing relevant knowledge in their daily work.
From PDF libraries to structured learning units
Existing materials such as documents, process descriptions, and experiential knowledge are transformed into structured learning units.
What was once a large collection of PDFs becomes a clear, guided learning path that supports onboarding and day-to-day work.
Preserving knowledge before it’s lost
A key success factor was embedding ownership within the business: content is created where knowledge originates.
Experienced employees share their know-how in a structured way before they leave the company. This ensures that knowledge is not only documented, but actively embedded and usable across the organization.
A new approach to learning in the organization
BOPP is preparing for a company-wide rollout in 2026. Even during the pilot phase, one thing is already clear: this new approach is changing how knowledge is perceived and used across the organization.
Instead of isolated content, a structured and accessible learning environment is emerging, fully integrated into everyday work.

BOPP at a glance
BOPP is a globally leading industrial company with highly specialized products and a strong focus on quality and precision.
Because there are hardly any pre-trained professionals available in the market, new employees are developed internally and build their expertise within the company. Knowledge and experience are therefore critical success factors and must be sustainably secured and shared.
