The challenge

How can a city administration transform itself digitally and take all employees with it on this journey?

The city of Baden was faced with the challenge that the life cycle of its existing SharePoint intranet solution was coming to an end. This prompted the Marketing and Communication, Digital Transformation and HR departments to look for a new solution. The big challenge: the changeover affected 620 employees, spread across 9 departments and different locations. Around 25% of these are non-desk users - employees without their own workstation or employees who are on the move.

With the switch to a "mobile first" intranet, the challenges could all be tackled. The new intranet was launched in just three months between kick-off and the go-live date.

Usability

Thanks to a clear distinction between current and long-term content, user orientation has been simplified and important content can be found quickly. As part of the intranet project, the really relevant content was migrated and new content was created. The user can find the information easily not only via the navigation, but also via the search function. All important tools, such as the time recording tool, GEVER (electronic business administration) and IT support, can be accessed with one click via the quick links.

Strengthen identification

The corporate identity is ensured. Thanks to the customizable design, the appealing naming inside.baden, a customized URL and a "baden ist" app icon, employees quickly feel at home. In addition, the values, visions and legislative goals of the city administration can be communicated clearly and comprehensibly via the integrated corporate compass.

Social Intranet

Social exchange is encouraged. All employees have the opportunity to share content from their day-to-day work with the entire city administration in the story area. This promotes bottom-up exchange. The ability to react or comment on news and pages, post stories or join the "Marketplace" community meant that engagement on inside.baden was surprisingly high very quickly.
